该片讲述一个刚从学校毕业想当记者的女孩Andy(安妮·海瑟薇饰演)在寻找工作无果的情况下进了一家顶级时装杂志《天桥》(Runway)给总编当助手，
影片中，这个时尚的女魔头无论公事私事都交给助手打理，把这个可怜的女孩折腾得苦不堪言。Andy的态度从一开始的得过且过，不为工作而改变自己，到后来主动换上了在圈子里的时尚衣服，完美地完成着她的工作。但最后通过与女魔头的交谈，发现自己得到了工作，却放弃了家人和朋友，并且为了工作上的进步要将别人狠狠打压下去之后，毅然离开了杂志社，并寻回了自己失落的幸福。
这个电影我一共看了三遍，每一次看都感觉一股强大的力量在激励着我，尤其是第一次看时，感觉相见恨晚，后悔怎么没有提前几年看到，至少在入职的时候先看这个电影，对于自己适应职场生活会有很大帮助。再一次看完这部影片，我有以下感受：
第一，对于一个刚入职场还怀有梦想的人来说，一切都是新的，一切都得从头开始，想做好不容易，如果再遇见一个苛刻的老板则更是如此。遇见像影片中Maranda这样的老板，工作对于老员工尚不轻松，对于新人无疑是一种煎熬，随时都会有战战兢兢如履薄冰的感觉。但是遇见一个苛刻老板，对于一个有梦的职场新人来说也是件好事：他能使你在最短的时间内转变角色，在同样的时间内这份工作会将你打造的更加优秀，你的适应能力、应变能力、接受挑战的能力等会变得更强。无论你将来继续在这个领域里发展，还是另谋出路，这份工作带给你的都将是最大的收益。当然，一般情况下，我们的领导采对我们的要求远没有这么严格，我们的压力跟Andy相比，小了很多。相比之下，我们是幸运的。
第二，思想决定行动。影片中介绍了Andy的蜕变过程，她从一个普通女孩便身职场丽人。以她第一去老板Maranda家送材料为限，分前后两部分。前期的主导思想是，我做好工作就行了，其他的无所谓，可以保持自我。这让她在公司中很另类，是被人嘲笑的对象，她自己也不能融入集体，对职场生活有很多的不理解和抱怨。经职场前辈Nigel的指点，她开始转变，而且转变得很彻底，不仅是外在的形象，还是工作作风，都与公司文化保持高度的一致，不仅符合老板的要求，还超出了老板的预料，表现得异常出色。以至于老板Maranda最后说“我从你身上能看出很多我的影子”。这一切的变化只因一点：思想的转变。主动想做好某事和被动做好某事效果是完全不同的。
第三，如何让自己变得出色。影片中有一处让我颇有感触的地方就是Maranda让Andy给双胞胎找尚未出版的《哈利波特》手稿，四个小时的时限。Andy一边认为自己完不成这个任务，一边开始想办法。老天眷顾她，她找到了，在Maranda限制的最后时间之前上交任务。当Maranda以刁难的口吻问“一本书，两个孩子怎么办”的时候，我第一次看的时候，心想完了，工作都白做了。没想到，Andy印了三份，还装裱了封面，看上去像书而不是手稿，并且已经事先交到双胞胎的手中，她跟老板谈话这会儿，双胞胎已经在看了。这令Maranda对她刮目相看。我想，如果我们做工作，无论是什么样的工作，如果时时处处都能想得这样周全，怕是想不出色都难吧。
第四，有人群的地方就有竞争。Emily处处排挤Andy，显示自己的优越性，作为观众，除了对Andy表示同情之外，就是觉得Emily很可恶，为什么不能对新人好一些呢?不过，反过来看，也有值得庆贺的地方。工作中，如果有Emily那样的人排挤我们，说明我们还是有能力，能对她造成威胁，或者是潜在的威胁。职场中，和这样的人交往是不可避免的事，但是怎样相处，却考验我们的社交能力。
第五，睁大慧眼，发现自己的贵人。Andy的成功跟个人的努力分不开，但是也应该感谢Nigel，没有Nigel的那次谈话，她的思想不会转变得那么快;没有Nigel的帮助，她的形象不会转变那么快，同样没有Nigel的理解，她糟糕的个人生活会更影响她的心情、甚至工作。工作中，有很多值得我们学习的前辈，他们愿意也乐于帮助我们，关键的时候给我们指点迷津。有他们的帮助，就等于给自己的工作添了对翅膀。能不能得到他们的帮助和支持，取决于我们的品质和态度，也取决于我们的智慧。
最后，也是最重要的一点：追随自己的内心感觉。大团圆式的结局：与现实生活不符，是电影为广大观众诟病的地方;也是最能触动人心的地方，毕竟对于绝大多数人，活着的终极意义就是追求快乐幸福。老板Maranda，职场生活光鲜靓丽，但家庭生活却一团糟，绯闻不断。如果能做选择的话，相信人们都会选择过简单却幸福的小人物生活。可惜的是，人们在追求幸福的时候，常常迷失了自我，结果本末倒置，因此真正追求到幸福的人只是少数。
