Country music which originates from the southern of American and
Appalachian Mountains(阿帕拉契山区) is one of the recent popular music. It dates back to 1920 combining traditional Folk Music, Celtic Music(凯尔特音乐), Gospel music（福音音乐）, Ancient music.
In 1925, a broadcast station is established in Nashville Tennessee（美国田纳西州纳什维尔）. They start a column called ‘Past Opera（往昔的歌剧）’. They invited an 81-year-old folksy singer named Jamie Thompson. For the
excellent performances given by him, this column is popular with a great many audiences. Since then people called this type of music country music. In American, Country music plays an important role in workers’life.Workers compose and sing country music to relax themselves and gain confident towards hardship. So it is also called’ Blue-collar music
Country music‘s construction is very simple. The tune sounds smooth and beautiful. Besides expressing the scene of farm work, Country music reflects people’s disgust with lonely vagabondage（流浪生活）. It makes people dream of the warm peaceful home.
Country music is divided into 13 schools. Early Country（早期乡村乐） is the old type of country music. During this time, the most famous group is The Carter Family. No one can deny the contribution they make to the
development of country music. Their representative work is Will the Circle Be Unbroken. It was the first time Maybelle Carter shows its most fascination
guitar style to people. The most famous type is Cowboy Music. Almost anyone knows it. Chinese people know it through American movies which express cowboy’s free happy life and the beauty of the southern of American. The Sons of the Pioneers is an American cowboy singing group founded in 1933.They composed so many good songs. For example, Heavy the Workhorse Movement gives us a feeling of wild naughty boys.
Finally, let me list many famous country music singers. They are John Denver (约翰·丹佛),Kenny Rogers(肯尼·罗杰斯), Josh Turner(乔什·特纳) ,Shania Twain(仙妮亚·唐恩)etc.
根据新的英语课程规范, 小学英语教学的目的是,“激发和培养同学学习英语的兴趣, 使同学树立自信心, 养成良好的学习习惯和形成有效的学习战略, 发展自主学习的能力和合作精神?? 为他们的终身学习和发展打下基础。”故此, 小学阶段英语教学, 特别是低年级段英语教学的重点在于激发、培养和维持同学学习英语的兴趣。
然而, 在小同学的英语学习中, 存在一个普遍的现象：随着语言学习的升级, 同学对语言学习的兴趣却逐步降低, 英语教学中“费时较多, 收效较低”的问题日见端倪。如何在低年级段英语教学中做到激趣、减负、增效?我们必需从低年级同学学习外语的认知规律和心理特征动身, 积极进行外语教学法的研究, 通过改进教学方法, 调动同学学习外语的积极性、主动性, 从而达到提高效率的目的。故事教学适合小学低年级段同学的年龄特点, 对同学的英语学习作用颇大。
一、低年级实施故事教学的优势小学阶段, 特别是低年级段, 同学处于形象思维的认知阶段。故事的形象性、情节性、趣味性符合同学思维发展的特点, 为他们提供了无比宽广的想象空间; 同时, 故事为同学的外语学习提供了生动的、丰富的积累语言经验的宝库。
1.故事教学有利于激发兴趣。
R.Gardner 和W.Lambert 的第二语言习得理论研究标明, 最胜利的学习是那些既有天赋又有极大学习动力的人。对于学习者来说, 只有他感兴趣的东西, 才会使他发生学习的欲望和动力。小同学生性好动, 好奇心强, 对新鲜事物有浓厚的兴趣。故事拥有生动的人物形象, 丰富的想象, 跌宕起伏的情节, 适合低年级同学的年龄特点。故此, 同学对故事有一种持续的需要。在一年级英语学习的起始阶段, 同学对故事如痴如醉: 课堂上, 同学喜欢在故事中理解单词的意思, 通过整个故事情节推测、理解生词, 同时又被激发着去理解蕴涵在故事中的更多的语言知识。课后, 同学听故事、模仿故事。以故事作为载体和手段, 同学在不知
不觉中习得语言, 没有丝毫的压力。同学也自然而然地和英语成了“好朋友”。
2.故事教学有利于培养语感。
过去我们在教学中主要把精力放在词汇、语法的传授上。教师讲解, 同学大量做题, 以应付考试, 无暇顾和同学的听力训练。同学学了几年英语, 耳不能听、口不能言、笔不能写, 即使勉强能说、写, 也是些书本语言, 脱离实际运用。采用故事教学, 同学必定接受大量的听、读输入( input), 经常感受英语的发音、音律和语言的整体结构。同学在故事教学中接受有关情节、情景的介绍, 从教师给出的语音信息中理解含义, 慢慢积累和吸收英语语言; 同时对教师提出的与情景有关的问题做出反应, 自觉不自觉地运用了语言。故事教学的语言重复性比较强, 整个过程, 同学对语言的认知加工是完全自然的、无意识的, 这使他们能够最大程度地接受语言输入, 并从自然的语言输入中笼统出语言规则, 获得语言。这样, 日积月累, 同学自然而然形成“语感”。
3.故事教学有利于合作学习。
当今社会, 协作和交流在人际交往中必不可少。课程规范强调了同学合作学习的重要性。在故事扮演环节, 单个同学与小组成员合作, 通过生动的角色扮演的方式展现自我, 同时树立与他人团结协作的意识, 培养人际交往能力。同学对故事扮演非常感兴趣。他们在这个过程中领悟到: 这项活动需要每个成员的密切配合、积极参与, 任何不合作的举动都会导致扮演失败。因此, 在活动中, 他们不只积极参与语言实践, 还主动协助较差的同学, 以使活动取得胜利。故事教学促进了同学的合作学习, 增强了同学的团结协作能力。
4.故事教学有利于文化渗透。
新的课程规范明确提出, 在英语教学中要注意文化意识的渗透。故事教学中教师可以从中外著名寓言、童话、科幻故事中大量取材, 再根据实际的教学需要和同学的知识水平进行改编。这些故事蕴涵着中西文化的精华, 也隐含着中西文化的对比。通过生动有趣的故事, 把文化中的笼统元素直观形象化, 以符合低年级同学的认知水平和年龄特点, 易于被同学接受。在教学中, 同学既感受到英美文化中理性的思维、豪放的风格、坦率的表达, 接受外来文化的洗礼, 发生新鲜感、趣味感, 又感受着中华文化浓厚的人情味、含蓄的表达, 接受本国文化的熏陶。故事教学有利于教师对同学进行文化渗透, 陶冶同学的情操。
5.故事教学有利于学科融合。
故事教学中的故事, 内容丰富, 融汇了各方面、各学科的知识。有些故事, 特别是寓言故事, 极具哲理考虑和道德内涵。这类故事通过具体的、发人深省的事例, 教育同学待人以善, 老实守信, 知足常乐等, 能收到很好的德育效果。很多故事还涉和社会、地理、历史、自然和科学等知识, 为学科之间的互补提供便当, 有助于各学科之间的渗透、融合。
二、低年级实施故事教学的战略
故事教学的实施, 应遵循科学的教学规律, 符合同学的认知习惯, 只有这样才干收到良好的效果, 才干促进同学的英语学习。具体来说要注意以下几点:
1.在故事教学中尽量采用全英语教学。
在讲故事的过程中, 老师给同学的引导、示范和输入，尽量采用全英语表达, 为同学提供尽可能多的语言输入。
故事教学作为一种教学方法, 适应儿童的年龄特点和认知规律, 为同学学习外语提供了便当。教师引导同学讲故事,同学可以用中文表达作为辅助。但作为老师, 则应发挥故事教学的优势, 营造简单、明了的全英语环境, 潜移默化养成同学用英语表达的习惯。
2.故事不只是导入新课的手段和工具。
在小学英语教学, 特别是低年级英语教学中, 我们强调同学的兴趣。但是教学的主要和最终目的, 仍是通过故事的讲述、扮演让同学习得语言。教学中宜以故事为主线, 交叉语言知识的学习, 使同学在轻松、有趣的氛围中 “不自觉”掌握语言。假如教师一味强调语言知识的学习,只把故事作为引入和出现新的语言知识的手段和工具,久而久之,“故事”在同学心里就变了味, 失去原有的吸引力。
3.不拘泥于原有故事情节。
课堂上, 假如老师讲的故事和同学熟知的故事一模一样, 缺乏新意, 同学会喜欢吗?假如老师改编了同学熟悉的故事, 却要求同学跟着老师的思路走, 不允许他们有新的创意, 同学会积极参与吗?怎样使故事教学抓住同学, 发挥更好的效果呢? 其实很简单, 充沛发挥老师和同学的想象力。
