　Today our Chinese teacher taught us a song. We learnt fast but sang it too loudly. He also asked us to retell a story. Something like those is very interesting. 2.5 hours passed quickly. Jessica gave us some pictures and asked us to write a story in 30 minutes, from one of the pictures. We discussed and finished it very well I think life here is becoming more and more interesting. At school we just learn grammar and do exercises in English classes, that’s really very boring. There will be a speaking competition on Saturday. I’m not willing to take part in it because I’m a little afraid of speaking before so many people. I have made a speech in junior middle school, I stood before 2000 students and felt very upset and nervous. Though I finished the speech, I don’t think my behavior was good. Maybe you think I need more practice, but I think I’m not good at speaking. I do better in writing than in speaking. I know I should be confident with myself, but I think I won’t speak very well in front of so many people. Even though I have learnt the article by heats when I stand on the stage. I have long finished her Middlemarch to which I first listened in complete puzzlement on the radio many years ago. And last year I read it on the Net. It is The Mill on the Floss that moves me most among the three works above-mentioned. I couldn’t keep back my tears twice during my reading. When Mr Tulliver gets irritated by quarreling with Mrs G, one of his wife’s sisters, he’s also displeased with his sister’s husband and rushes to claim the money lent to them for repaying Mrs G. But he regrets deeply soon after pressing the poor couple and cancels the claim for he hates to see Tom hard on Maggie in the future as he does towards his sister. The second time I shed tears was today when I read the family council after Mr Tulliver goes bankrupt. The tragic atmosphere is extremely moving.
